Foundations to Gender Identity and Gender Expression

Gender identity and gender expression are core parts of how we understand ourselves and move through the world. In this course, you'll explore key concepts, terminology, and cultural contexts that shape gender. This foundation will support learners in building a deeper understanding of identity, expression, and the environments that influence how they are experienced and expressed. Upon completion of this course, you will learn: 1) Common terms and affirming language related to gender; 2) What gender expression is and how it is shaped by access, safety, and social context; 3) How to identify transphobia and recognize common behaviors rooted in anti-trans harm; 4) How to apply actions and practices that support and affirm transgender and nonbinary people.
